If I had a piece of of thread
As fine as I could sew
I’d sew my love to my coat-tails
And down the road I’d go
Find me when the snow is falling
When the wind does blow
Find me when the birds are calling
Down the road I’ll go
Once I gave my love a pear
He bit it to the core
And out there came a thousand fishes
Swimming to the shore
My love is like a bonny bird
That conquers all the sky
My love is like the ocean bed
That never will run dry
Apples in the summertime
Peaches in the fall
If I can’t have you for my love
I’ll have no man at all
